The exhibition by David Schnell (*1971) creates imaginary spatial images. Geometric forms meet pictorial imagery and, as in dreams, painterly details combine with remembered, associated abstractions. Schnell's paintings interweave different principles: cut-outs with depth, color fields with crystalline splinters and strong colors with simultaneous transparency.
All eight works on display date from 2024 and were created especially for the Mies van der Rohe Haus. They bear witness to the artist's intensive engagement with the work of Mies van der Rohe.
The artist lives and works in Leipzig.
